Honorable Mention

Often riveting drama about, well, a tense, splenetic, complicated era of Curaçao in the 1960s, I was inspired to write the screenplay for arguably one of the most notorious, controversial, and inspiring days in the history of Curaçao. The aftermath brought consequences to the whole foundation of the Island. After writing the script me and my team put together an amazing cast and crew and in 3 days of filming and countless hours of Vfx we created a 1960s Curaçao for the concept trailer for what would be the end film.

The Story

I have always been a fan of the history of Curaçao, of how fascinating the fighting spirit of the Curaçao people is. After doing a lot of research and having a lengthy interview with Mr. Stanley Brown ( one of the leaders of the uprising), I started to write the screenplay for the massive day in Curaçcao history. The uprising of May 30, 1969, a series of riots that arose from a strike by workers in the oil industry, turned violent, leading to widespread looting and destruction of buildings and vehicles in the central business district of Curaçao’s capital, Willemstad.
